‘Bayanihan’ thrives in North Cotabato
COTABATO CITY (PNA) — An alliance of municipalities in North Cotabato’s first district has intensified its “bayanihan” spirit and implemented infrastructure projects in underdeveloped villages.
The PALMA+PB — which stands for the initials letters of the towns of Pigcawayan, Aleosan, Libungan, Midsayap and Alamada plus Pikit and Banisilan — has pulled its resources and equipment to implement road development projects in 17 villages of Midsayap.
Road rehabilitation is ongoing and expected to be completed before the year ends, according to Midsayap municipal planning development coordinator Hernane Gravina Jr.
He said the local government of Midsayap has allocated some R2 million for the ongoing project.
Known as KPIP or Kabalikat PALMA+PB Infrastructure Project, the enterprise has been moving from one municipality of the district to another for 10 years now, doing repair works on roads, rehabilitation of bridges and constructing farm-to-market roads among others.
For this year alone, Midsayap is the fifth batch helping improve the farm-to-market roads in the remote communities.
