4 killed in Midsayap grenade blast
MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – At least 4 people, including an 8-year-old boy, were killed while 8 others were injured in a grenade blast in the town of Midsayap in North Cotabato Wednesday night, authorities said.
One of the victims, identified as Hilario Villaflor, 60 years old, died on the spot.
Three other fatalities died on their way to a hospital in Libungan town. They were identified as John Loyd Anza, 8; Isidro Awa, 40; and Eric John Querol, 12.
The injured victims were identified as Roda Mae Sila, 19; Louie Grace Baran, 23; Rena Mae Baran, 3; Sofia Anza, 5; Franzbet Anza, 8; Isidro Awa, 14; Marvin Bayo, 20; and Dina Madrigal, 57.
Police said the explosion occurred at the home of Madrigal in Barangay Nalin 1 in Midsayap at around 7:30 p.m.
Recovered from the scene was the explosive’s safety level and pin.
Authorities have yet to determine the motive of the attack.
